Biography

Fernando has over 30 years of coaching experience, beginning in 1996 in basketball, where he coached for nearly 20 years before transitioning into volleyball. One of his volleyball coaching highlights came in 2018, when he served as an assistant coach for Ontario's Region 4 Boys 14U team at the Ontario Summer Games.

He joined HVC in 2019, assisting with the club's first 16U Boys Flight team, and in the 2025–26 season coaches two of the club's thirteen teams.

Coaching Philosophy

Fernando strongly believes in developing not only the athlete's body but also the mind. He emphasizes mental toughness alongside physical preparation and understands the importance of "working on your craft" through strong fundamentals, dedication to strength and conditioning, proper nutrition, and consistent development.
